We have a treed area called "Our forest". There is a grouping of large evergreen trees and some ash trees close to the school. This space is wonderful in all seasons as it provides shelter and a creative place for grand play. The TimberNook weekly curriculum is restoring play and it’s benefits to education. Nature is the ultimate sensory experience and Timbernook knows the importance of play for development. In this curriculum children will be a part of active and fun play experiences that allow them to participate at their own pace and learn. We will be using the wooded area near the school to carry out the weekly curriculum. We will go outside weekly at Cardinal Leger school and we will have THREE visits to the TimberNook Saskatoon location 15 min east of Saskatoon. We will visit and explore each season, see calendar for dates. This location will give children more time and space to play and learn the TimberNook way! We visit TimberNook Saskatoon three times during the school year. It is a true private prairie oasis on 160 acres. You enter through the “sister trees” and follow a winding path into the bluff of poplar trees to “the clearing” where our campfire is located. Our location has many other enchanted spots such the hidden hollows, the willows, a mud pit, a gentle seasonal stream, and lots of open rolling hills of natural prairie grasslands. We provide the props and initial inspiration, and the children use their imaginations and creativity to create experiences they will never forget. Come play the TimberNook way!
