Program Overview

This program was designed for the smallest of our TimberNook adventurers. You and your child together will venture into the woods for creative play opportunities that engage the mind and challenge the senses, such as hosting a tea party in the garden, doing “construction work” in mud puddles, or experimenting with color in giant foam experiences. You’ll walk away each week brimming with ideas for inspiring unique, creative play at home as well. Programs may vary based on location.

As a parent with a masters degree in speech therapy and education and training in early intervention, I have high expectations of children’s programs, quite regularly Unmet by most programs we have tried. But, Timbernook exceeded my expectations.

We enrolled our 4 year old in The Story Book program and Barefoot and Buckets Dino Dig and enrolled both our 4 year old and our 2 year old in the Tiny Ones programs. All the Timbernook programs we participated in made for both very happy campers and parents.

After 1 week in Story Book, it seemed our son’s confidence, creativity, Vocabulary, social skills, curiosity and independence grew exponentially. Family members said he was “a different kid”. He couldn’t stop talking about his discoveries in the woods and the adventures with his new friends. He developed a new bravery and confidence with independent exploration and problem solving. Us parents quickly had to adjust to the new “I’ll do it myself” requests.

The Tiny Ones program caregiver and me, “step back and tune in” approach transformed our clingy toddler to a confident, independent, playful leader.

The Timbernook programs are developmentally appropriate, excellent programs packed full of sensory, social and learning opportunities and facilitated by an experienced professional who is flexible with and responsive to the needs of the group, the weather, etc. There is freedom, safety, and movement. There are sounds, songs, stories, play, and endless opportunity to pursue whatever sensory or learning experience your child seeks in a given moment.

Daily emails from Miss Crystal ( with professional photos of our children!!) And with information about what they did and learned about was something our family looked forward to each afternoon. No other program communicated so well with parents.

Both our children continue to beg to return since camp ended, and of course, we cannot wait to return.
